Chef Al has in-depth knowledge of gourmet foods, cheeses, fine wines and food pairing, cigars and liquor. His superior provisioning abilities enable him to source the most exotic and sought after ingredients through his relationships with independent growers, specialty farms, and private purveyors. With his flair for achieving exceptional food quality and a flawless presentation, Chef Alan Michals has made a name for himself as a highly sought after professional within the industry. He has broad knowledge of a wide range of ethnic world cuisines, and can cater to all tastes and dietary needs.

Chef Al’s background includes over 25 years of experience in the field of personal estate manager and private chefing working with extremely high profile celebrities, political figures and individual families. In addition to cooking, he takes care of complete estates including grounds, household, car fleets, personal driving, security, personal shopping, travel and any other needs of estate owners. Top in his field and committed to excellence, he has put his elite skills to use working for prestigious families including President Gerald Ford, Rod Stewart and Jerry Weintraub. His extraordinary work ethic, high degree of integrity, positive attitude and genuine personality have afforded him this amazing clientele. Chef Alan Michals is a former Recon Marine (the top 1% of Marines) and after his service, went to chef school, studying under Master Chef Roland Chacton, author of Recipes for Success. Since then, his life revolves around what he loves – good food, good wine and good friends. His passion and infectious optimism inspire those around him, and his impeccable work ethic and creativity put him at the top of his game providing nothing but the best in entertainment for his bosses, as well as their families, clients and friends.

Chef Al began his culinary career working as a chef in several high profile restaurants and held positions in all stations. He completed a one year apprenticeship at the Queen E. in Montreal, Canada and then worked for three years at Marriott Hotels Chef Gourmet Rooms. Other employers included the Montauk Yacht Club where Chef Al was in charge of off-property catering; the French Shack in Manhattan, NY as a Saucier; and Broadmore Country Club in Largo, FL (home to the PGA Tour Challenge) as a Banquet Chef. He was also part of the opening team for various locations.

Chef Al grew up in a small farm town in Ohio and now calls South Florida his home base where he owns a condo and some rental properties. As a loyal member of the community and a committed professional, he has donated his time and services to assisting local charities and is currently a member of the Miami Dolphins Special Teams Volunteers.

On a personal note, Chef Al enjoys golfing, sailing, skiing, tennis and diving. He owns a house in Panama and keeps his sail boat there, the 44 ft. Morgan Sea Rooster. He is also a PADI Rescue Diver as well as advanced wreck and night diver. When he is not working, he is in Panama sailing and enjoying the weather, diving, hiking and fishing.

A world traveler, Chef Al has hiked the Inca Trail in Peru and skied both sides of the Andes mountains. Chef Al has visited numerous locations throughout Europe, Central America, South America, Mexico, Asia, Canada and the United States.

Chef Al has an extraordinary passion and zeal for life and lives life to the fullest every day. He is amazing with children and is available to provide estate management, major domo services and/or personal chef services for you and/or your family.
